Food Assistance

Food needs can change as disaster strikes. But there are different ways to get assistance. To find information on food distribution and meal sites, click here.

In response to the recent spread of COVID-19, HACAP has made the following changes to mobile pantry distribution to protect your health and the health of clients.

  • They will distribute pre-boxed food rather than setting up tables for clients to “shop” from. Pallets of boxes and bags will be ready to add perishable items like produce, bakery and meat to. It will be distributed directly from the truck in order to reduce contact with clients.

  • Clients will be asked to wait in their vehicles and just drive thru for pick up. If clients do not have cars, we are asking that a line of participants be formed and we will call one person at a time up to receive pre-boxed and bagged items.

  • Check in should be done by one person, if you are new and need to sign a TEFAP form, please keep contact minimal.

For more information and the monthly schedule of distribution, go to: HACAP's Mobile Food Pantry page.

Matthew 25 has a new client-choice food pantry offering free fruits and vegetables to residents of the Northwest and Taylor neighborhoods. Check out this flyer for distribution times and days.

Feed Iowa First's Veggie Bus is distributing fresh food.  All produce is locally grown, free of charge, and chemical-free.  There is no paperwork or verification.  Families can swing by the veggie bus and choose what they want.  We are in PPE, they point to what they want and we bag.

This schedule shows stops are open to the public and additional drops are to food pantries and organizations who receive weekly delivery.
